ZigBee 2007 and ZigBee PRO update

1-Apr-2007 — The ZigBee Alliance technical working groups are applying the finishing touches to the ZigBee 2007 specification, which, as the name implies, is due out in Q3 of this year. This specification will, of course, offer improvements over the 2006 version—clarifications, corrections and so on—but the most important change is the addition of a new feature set dubbed "ZigBee PRO" and captured in the ZigBee PRO stack profile document. These features have been in the works for several years now and are a response to requirements put forward by OEM developers and potential ZigBee users in the commercial and industrial markets.

ZigBee Alliance issues first ZigBee-compliant platform certificates

Formalizes Compliance Testing Process; Chipcon, CompXs, Ember and Freescale Semiconductor Receive Compliance Certificates

San Ramon, CA. – April 11, 2005 – The ZigBee Alliance, an association of companies working together to enable wirelessly networked monitoring and control products based on an open global standard, today announced four ZigBee-compliant platforms from Chipcon, CompXs, Ember and Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. Using testing services provided by the Alliance's official test houses, National Technical Systems, Inc. and TUV Rheinland, and leveraging analysis tools from Daintree Networks, the Alliance conducted extensive testing on these platforms to ensure complete interoperability. This announcement culminates close to a year of effort by these companies, devoted to development of the compliance testing process and to the testing of these platforms.
