Daintree Announces SNA Release 3.1 and Changes to Software Updates
FREMONT, CA — November 5, 2009 — Daintree Networks, Inc. announced today shipment of the latest release of its popular Sensor Network Analyzer (SNA). The new release 3.1 of the SNA includes decodes for all of the latest ZigBee application profiles, plus updated decodes for ZigBee RF4CE, 6LoWPAN, and JenNet.
Daintree's SNA provides the industry's most comprehensive solution for both the development and deployment of systems based on wireless embedded network protocols including IEEE® 802.15.4™, ZigBee®, and 6LoWPAN.
Other enhancements in this release include capture device support for boards from the Texas Instruments CC2530 and STMicroelectronics STM3W kits, plus a large number of usability improvements.
Daintree also announced changes to its software update strategy for the SNA.
"When the SNA was first released in 2005, it was missing many of the features that users are familiar with today," said Jason Choong, Daintree's VP Marketing. "Over the years, Daintree has issued regular software updates for the SNA, adding new features and decodes, and enhancing existing functionality."
"As the SNA became more mature and feature-rich, updates became less frequent," he said. "During this time, Daintree also introduced new products to its portfolio. As a result, Daintree has decided to make some changes to the way in which we issue SNA software updates."
Those changes include the following:
- As of July 2009, the SNA Software Update Subscription (SUS) service was discontinued. All existing SUS contracts will be honored to the end of July 2010.
- Daintree will post details about all future SNA releases on its web site (and through its customer newsletter). Any customer wanting to purchase the latest version of the software can do so through Daintree's new Single Software Update (SSU) model.
- Release 3.1 (described above) is planned as the last MAJOR update for the SNA. There will likely be additional releases in the future, but these will be limited to addressing issues with the existing software and will not add new features or functionality.
- There are currently NO plans to update the SNA's decodes to include ZigBee Smart Energy 2.0.
