New Lighting Whitepapers Added to Daintree's Reference Library

4-Feb-2010: Daintree has added three new whitepapers to its reference library to help you learn about wireless lighting control:

  • Harvest daylight and reap rewards
The concept behind daylight harvesting (also called daylighting) is simple. During the day when natural light is streaming in through windows and skylights, you don't need to use as much artificial light.

  • Lighting schedules offer timely savings
Turning off lights when they are not needed is one of the best ways to save energy. The most reliable way to turn lights off when they are not needed is to automate the process. Many of today's lighting control and building automation systems provide "scheduling," which automatically turns on, off, or dims lights as specified times of the day.

  • Occupancy sensors deliver lighting on demand
Many of today's commercial lighting and building automation systems use occupancy sensors to turn lights on and off based on whether or not an area is occupied. Not only does this reduce energy consumption and save money, it also helps buildings to comply with the "automatic shut-off of building lighting" requirements of energy codes such as ASHRAE 90.1 and California Title 24.
