Daintree Networks announce "industry first" functionality for their Sensor Network Analyzer

SAN JOSE — Nov. 30, 2005 — Daintree Networks Inc. today announced the availability of Release 1.5 of their Sensor Network Analyzer (SNA). The release builds on the functionality of this popular product with new features including 'active' analysis and user-definable application profiles.

"We're proud to announce what we believe is an industry first: the ability to actively analyze networks and devices," said Daintree CEO, Bill Wood. "Using our Sensor Network Adapters, we send control messages to the network, and then use the responses to create an up-to-the-minute picture of network conditions.

"This enables active identification of potential problem areas, such as devices with low battery levels or with poor radio connections to other devices. It also makes it possible to build or re-build a visual representation of the network structure at any time, even when the network formation was not able to be observed."

The SNA is a complete package offering extensive visualization, performance measurements and protocol analysis. It provides all of the tools required for IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee analysis and testing, from development to system testing and trials, even to early deployment.

"This new release also provides support for developers who use their own proprietary application profiles," said Bill. "They can now create custom profiles described through an XML-schema and include details such as profile and cluster IDs. The SNA uses these custom profiles in its decodes, visualizations and measurements. A library of standards-based profiles is also included.

"We're very excited about the new and improved functionality that is now available. We have worked closely with our customers and been actively involved within the ZigBee Alliance, which we believe has helped us to achieve a good understanding of the tools and functionality today's sensor and control networking developers and installers need."

The Sensor Network Analyzer, which runs on Microsoft Windows XP or 2000, is used by 802.15.4 and ZigBee technology leaders around the world for internal development and support. It also plays an essential role in ZigBee interoperability events, where it is used as the primary platform independent means of visualizing, recording and verifying conformance to ZigBee specifications and test plans.
