Replace Old Drivers with Embedded Wireless Drivers

Lighting manufacturers can leverage the cutting edge wireless drivers from LG Innotek, and make any LED fixture wireless ready.  Instead of using the old 0-10Volt control wiring, OEMs can integrate these new embedded wireless drivers into their product lines.  Embedded wireless drivers allow customers to eliminate the cost and installation challenges associated with multi-box wireless implementations that require a separate wireless adapter and LED drivers for advanced control.

 

The new embedded wireless drivers will enable fixture manufacturers to deliver cost-effective, out-of-the-box solutions for commercial facility builders, owners, and managers installing or upgrading to more energy-efficient controlled overhead lighting.

The new LG Innotek driver can be used by lighting fixture manufacturers for 2×2 and 2×4 LED troffers and retrofit kits. The product is expected to result in significant savings for users, both in up-front costs (up to 85 percent) and in energy efficiency following installation (up to 90 percent).

  • What is an embedded wireless LED driver?
    An LED driver is the power supply for an LED system and controls the current flowing through the LED.  An embedded wireless driver features an integrated wireless communication module and creates a wireless-ready fixture to implement a wireless control solution.
  • Why is embedded wireless driver a great opportunity for fixture manufacturers?
    LED fixture manufacturers who don’t build their own driver can focus on their core capabilities and integrate off the shelf, standard embedded wireless drivers into their own unique offering without having to integrate additional boxes, power packs and adapters.
  • How does embedding wireless control in the LED driver simplify the wiring?
    LED drivers with embedded wireless control eliminate the need for the traditional 0-10 V control wiring. The fixtures just need high voltage wiring thereby significantly reducing the total installation process.

  • Which fixtures are supported with this new capability?
    The new LG Innotek is 35 W LED driver that can be used by any lighting fixture manufacturer developing luminaires typically used in commercial office applications such as troffers and retrofit kits.
  • Which wireless technology is supported?
    The embedded wireless solution uses the ZigBee industry standard.
  • Do we have to buy the Daintree ControlScope right away when we buy fixtures that use embedded wireless drivers?
    No, you don’t have to buy Daintree solution at the same time as you buy fixtures. Embedded wireless allows you to have the ability to control lighting and save energy anytime you are ready – now or in the future.
  • What else do we need for lighting controls if we buy these fixtures?
    To implement advanced lighting controls such as schedules, occupancy or daylight harvesting, you will need to buy other Daintree ControlScope solution components: software, system controller, wireless access controller, sensors, dimmers, etc. But you won’t need to buy wireless adapters to manage each fixture on a granular level which results in significant savings. With embedded wireless and ControlScope, you can configure granular or zonal level lighting controls or combinations thereof.
  • Does Controlscope Manager need any extra configuration for the fixtures?
    No. Since the LED fixtures use standards based technology they work out of the box with ControlScope Manager.
