Wireless Commissioning

Wireless CommissioningIn its broadest sense, commissioning covers a wide range of tasks including site survey, placement of devices (e.g. fixtures, sensors, switches), binding (e.g. making sure that switches control the intended luminaires), configuration of individual devices and the system as a whole, and verification of correct operation.

One of the perennial struggles in the development of energy-saving lighting controls has been the complexity of the commissioning process and ongoing maintenance. This issue has kept many powerful solutions from being adopted, and the addition of wireless technology adds another new set of concepts and behaviors for commissioning specialists to learn.

This is why Daintree has focused a large part of its development efforts and intellectual property on making wireless lighting controls easy to commission, install, and manage.

Simplicity and automation

In a perfect world, devices would commission themselves. An installer would put them where they were supposed to go, and then stand back and watch the devices as they join the network, implement any security measures the network uses, bind themselves to the correct switches/luminaires/controls, and configure themselves for operation. Daintree's aim is to come as close to that perfect world as possible.

Daintree has developed a number of patent-pending techniques and algorithms that help to automate many of the more complex commissioning tasks. These Auto-Commissioning methods not only help to make systems easier to install and commission, they also ensure that the commissioning is performed more accurately.

And for those tasks that aren't able to be fully automated, Daintree's commissioning tool offers flexibility in allowing installers the means to visualize the network and devices, and options to configure and commission the system.
