Wireless Area Controller (WAC)

wireless_area_controller_200The Wireless Area Controller (WAC) provides the core intelligence of Daintree Networks' ControlScope™ wireless platform. The WAC collapses panels, gateways and miles of wires into a compact controller that provides all of the critical commissioning, communications, control and management functions needed to deliver intelligent lighting control over a wide area of lighting.

Using open and interoperable ZigBee® standards-based technology, the WAC communicates with standards-compliant sensors, switches, ballasts, and LED drivers to transform basic room controls into a complete wireless control solution. The two-way communication provided by wireless mesh networks also enables the WAC to monitor the network and provide valuable energy usage data for granular user control and advanced demand management.

Benefits

  • Small form factor and easy installation are ideal for both retrofit and new construction without the expense, complication and disruption of a wired solution.
  • Communicates with a range of standards-compliant sensors, switches, and ballasts.
  • Delivers maximum energy-saving control strategies to the large number of spaces considered inaccessible or impractical with wired technology.
  • Reduces the expense and complexity of commissioning through the use of intelligent automatic techniques that enable commissioning in three easy steps: install, select and configure.
  • Uses reliable and robust mesh architecture to ensure the fast delivery of control messages.
  • Simplifies communications by eliminating control wiring, reducing much of the expense, complication and disruption of a wired system.
  • Enables powerful energy-saving control strategies including scheduling, occupancy, daylighting, task tuning, lumen maintenance, demand response, and load shedding.
  • Delivers real-time, measurable information about usage and system health, creating new methods to manage energy usage and demand.
  • Provides a simple and intuitive interface for system configuration and energy management when used with Daintree's ControlScope Manager software.
  • Scalable from a single office to system-wide control of hundreds (or thousands) of devices across a distributed enterprise.

A single WAC can cover a wide area including hundreds of luminaires and control devices. Because Daintree uses the standard ZigBee mesh architecture for communications, each WAC does not need to talk directly to each device—even devices across a building can communicate with each other and route messages back to the WAC. In this way, Daintree reduces the cost and complexity of system-wide lighting control across large areas.
