Can I transfer my license to another PC or another user?

The following instructions explain how to perform license portability with SNA release 3.2 and newer. If you are using an older release, please contact Daintree Support to find out how you can obtain this functionality.

Note that the previous method of releasing and activating licenses was supported only until 31-Dec-2009, after which the Daintree licensing server was disconnected.

Licensing for the SNA software is provided through a dedicated USB hardware dongle. You can use the software ONLY on a computer to which the dongle is connected. Therefore, you can install the SNA software on as many computers as you want.

  • If you try to start the SNA and no license dongle is detected, an error message tells you to insert the dongle and try again.
  • If you remove the dongle from a computer on which the SNA software is running, an error message tells you that the dongle is missing, and the SNA software shuts down (without giving you the option to save capture or session files).
  • Your dongle will run only the edition and release of the SNA you have purchased (for example, you cannot use a Standard dongle to run a Professional edition of the software, or use a dongle for release 2.4 to run the newer release 3.2).

To transfer the license from one computer to another, you simply unplug the dongle from the first computer and connect it to a second one on which the SNA software is installed. Before unplugging the dongle to transfer the license, make sure you first save any capture or session files.
